Strength comes from struggle. Struggles help you become better, wiser and stronger. Struggles help you find a weakness you can strengthen. Struggles are also a season in your life. Sometimes struggles seem abundant and overwhelming. What are you learning through your struggles? Are you becoming bitter and negative? Are you able to forgive and love, anyway? Are you pushing through with a positive attitude? Do you have a mindset that supports you got this? Are you in a valley, on the mountain top or making the climb right now?
Strength doesn’t come from what you can do, it comes from overcoming the things you thought you couldn’t. – Anonymous
Be strong because things will get better. It may be stormy now, but it never rains forever. – Anonymous
Struggles can be painful. They can tear you up from the inside out and make you wonder if you have the strength to go on. What type of struggles are you dealing with today? There are so many going on in people’s lives right now. Many that you see smiling are coming out of a season of struggles or just about to head into a season of struggle. We all have them and we all need strength to get through them.
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. – Philippians 4:13 (NLT)
Philippians 4:13 is my favorite bible verse. It is my go to verse when I’m feeling overwhelmed and frustrated by the struggles in my life. Leaning on Christ when you are going through troubled waters is the best way to maneuver through those storms. As a believer it is important to memorize scriptures that can pull you through those rough times. It’s also important to realize from whom you draw your strength.
This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9 (NLT)
When you know God is with you wherever you go and he wants you to not be afraid or discouraged of the struggles in your life because he is right there with you it is reassuring. You can be strong and courageous when you know he will hold you up with his own hand.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. – Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)
When you are living a life close to God by reading your bible, spending time in prayer, seeking him in your day-to-day life, attending church and being with other believers you grow in your relationship with him. You seek him for all decisions in your life and follow his plan and calling for you. You live your life with His purpose in mind. Your faith becomes stronger and you believe anything is possible. That you ‘Can Do’ all things through Christ who gives you strength. You can write that book. You can speak in front of thousands. You can lead a project. You can write a song. You can forgive others and love them. You can get a better job. You can be a great parent. You can do anything you feel God is calling you to do.
I felt led to write my first book, and I wanted to do a great job and made sure I spent the time I needed writing. Finding time to sit and write due to the daily struggles was difficult. Then came editing and how to polish it so it could be what God wanted it to be. There were a lot of hurdles to overcome. I haven’t been in school for a long time and though English was one of my best classes, it was a tool not used in quite some time. I had to make time to read about writing, editing and making the book better. I had to study other Authors and writing styles. This learning curve had many struggles and I can say it was worth it. The real struggles came from my day-to-day life. There have been health issues in my family, job problems, financial struggles, deaths, negative people, hurt emotions and more. The struggles were overwhelming, but I kept repeating scripture to get me through. I kept going even with the struggles. The things to make the book release weren’t happening right away, but I knew there was a reason things weren’t working out. I had to grow, gain knowledge, and develop a strength out of weakness. Is my first book perfect? Absolutely not. It’s a starting point to better things to come.
What do you feel led to do? What purpose or calling do you feel you should pursue? Are you under attack because you are going for it and giving it all you have? Are you depending on the strength of God to get you through the struggles that come with that mission? Whatever it may be, God is there for you to direct you on the right path, to give you the strength and courage to make it happen. Maybe you are heading down one path and you should take a different one?
What must you overcome to gain the strength you need? Sometimes, struggles should help you see what you can overcome when you thought you couldn’t. It’s helping you grow and change to mold you into something better, wiser and more beautiful than before.
Spend a few moments today reviewing where you are and where you should be. Are you pursuing a true calling or feel led to do something? What is holding you back? Why haven’t you taken the steps to begin? If you have started then are the struggles in your life keeping you from continuing? If so, how can you overcome those struggles and fears? Have you started on one path but now feel led to go down a different one? Reflect upon where you are and where you want to be. Are you depending on God to give you the strength you need to continue, change direction or take the first steps? Don’t let your insecurities hold you back from the blessings God has for you.
Leave a comment letting me know what you are pursuing and how you will overcome the struggles. Tell me how you ‘Can do’ all things through Christ who strengthens you. I look forward to hearing from you.
Blessings,
Lisa
