Season of Change

The fall season is upon us with the sound of leaves under our footsteps, vivid colors to view all around us, cooler temperatures and crisp fresh air that comes with this season of change. Fall is the time that the leaves not only change colors but drop from the trees. These changes mean cooler temperatures ahead and upcoming holidays and family time ahead too.

With every season of change we should examine our lives to see where we are currently, where we want to go and what we need to do to get there. Allow this season of change to help you go from a dream to a goal that can be accomplished.

Here are some steps to take to help you utilize the season of change to help you do the same and accomplish things you really want to happen in your life.

1. Decide what it is you wish to do or change in your life.

Do you want to be a writer, photographer, artist, chef, musician, film maker, or more? Turn that dream into something more by making a decision to work towards it.

2. Schedule time to do it.

We all have busy lives with jobs, family, school and social events that we must deal with regularly. Take your calendar out and really evaluate what it is you want with your life. If you want to be a writer for instance then you must make time to write. Pick one day a week or three if you have it available and pick either early morning before the family is awake or after you put them to bed at night time to sit down to write.

3. Family meeting.

When you decide how much time you would like to allocate to your goal then sit down with your immediate family and discuss what your dream is and what you want to do. Get there support and accountability to know that you have chosen certain days to work on this goal and they will push you to not miss those days.

4. Commitment.

Once you have a date and once you have gotten the support of others then make sure you commit to being prepared to work on that goal on the day you have planned. Don’t let things interrupt this time unless it’s an emergency. Be focused on your goal and stick to the plan you made.

5. Deadlines.

You chose to write a book then you also need to set a deadline as to when you will have that first draft completed. If you are writing three days a week then you need to attempt to write 500 to 1,000 words minimally on those days. If you do then in 90 days you should have a rough draft completed as long as you don’t miss any days on your schedule. That’s only working on it three days a week also.

6. Focus on the week.

You have set a deadline and you know when you have scheduled to work on your goal, now only focus on that week. Be 100% present when you sit down to work on your goal. Focus only on that night and what you need to accomplish. If you only focus on that week then the bigger picture doesn’t seem so big. Small steps will get you there.

Utilize this time of change to make small steps towards your goals. Before you know it you will have accomplished something you had only been dreaming about prior to making this change. Utilize this season of change to help you achieve your goals and improve your life so that it will be what you want it to be.

Take a minute to share and leave a comment below to let me know what type of things the fall season represents for you and how you utilize the season of change in your life to achieve your goals.

Have a blessed week!
